Description
Nature Table marks the culmination of my research residency with The Maltings and researchers at Newcastle University. Over eight months I responded to three different communities and places in rural Northumberland with the aim of exploring ideas about wellbeing. In doing so I participated in sheep auctions, dug for clay, constructed dead hedges and walked circles round the Cheviots. The results of these encounters, journeys and experiments were presented in a public performance and installation in February 2025.

Quote
"It was so great to see the ways that Emily translated in-depth research into such a physically and materially rich piece of work. Multiple meanings of 'labour' felt really important throughout, and, in addition to the performative nature of the work, I was especially drawn to the details, including conceptually rigorous mark-making processes and carefully considered material choices." – Tom Jeffreys, writer.
